Machimpex Platinum Dog Car Seat Cover From Costco – Does It Fit Tesla Model Y?

By Tuan Do

I recently bought the Machimpex Platinum 3-in-1 Car Seat Protector from Costco and installed it in my Tesla Model Y to shield the seats from my dog, and here’s a detailed review based on my experience.

Fit and Installation

Although the protector is universal and is not specifically designed for the Tesla, it fits my Model Y quite well overall. The dimensions are mostly accurate, covering the rear seat area effectively. The material appears to be made from high-quality, durable fabric, which is great for preventing damage from dog nails, dirt, and hair. Installation was straightforward, with straps and buckles that are easy to understand and use. Additionally, the cover is easy to remove and reinstall, which is convenient for cleaning purposes.

However, I did encounter a significant issue with one of the seat belt holes. It’s not in the correct position, which makes it challenging to fasten securely. This is not a big problem if you just have 1 kid plus 1 dog on the back.

While the main seating area is well-protected, there’s a notable flaw in the design when it comes to covering the back of the front seats. Besides, when I hang the cover on the front seat, it tends to float and becomes unusable. So I just leave the cover on the rear seat and leave the back of the front seat exposed. This is a concern for me since my dog sometimes places his paws on the front seat, which could lead to scratches or dirt marks.

Conclusion

Overall, the Machimpex Platinum Rear Seat Protector is a solid choice for pet owners looking to protect their rear seats. It offers good coverage, is made from durable materials, and is easy to clean. I got it for around $20 at Costco and I’m quite satisfied with the purchase.
